Deleting your account

WordsApp for Android · Deutsche Fassung

A WordsApp account only exists if you asked for one — playing on your own, against the AI or with two people on one device never creates one. If you do have one, you can delete it yourself, from inside the app, at any time.

In the app

  1. Open WordsApp.
  2. Tap the gear icon at the top right of the main menu.
  3. Choose Account.
  4. Tap Delete account at the bottom of the page and confirm.

The deletion happens immediately. There is no waiting period and nothing to confirm by email.

What is deleted

  • Your display name and player tag
  • Your profile picture
  • Your friends and any open friend requests
  • The link to your Google Play Games account
  • Your games that are still running: deleting gives them up
  • Every sign-in on every device, and the token used to send you notifications

What stays, and why

Games you already finished remain with the other player. They are that person's history as much as yours, and one player cannot erase another's record of a game they played. You appear in them as Deleted player, with no name and no picture.

Games on your own device — against the AI, two people on one device, and the Cascade solitaire mode — are stored on the phone and are not part of the account. They stay until you delete the app.

Lost the phone, or uninstalled first?

Then you do not need us. Your account belongs to your Google Play Games identity, not to the handset: install WordsApp on any Android phone, sign in with the same Google account, and everything is there again. Delete it from the settings as above.

Why we cannot delete an account by email. Your player tag is not a secret. You hand it to people so they can find you, so anyone who has played you knows it, and acting on it would let a stranger delete your games. We also hold no email address for you: Google sends us a player id and a display name, nothing else. Signing in is the only proof of ownership that exists, which is why deleting lives inside the app.

If signing in genuinely fails, write to contact@wordsapp.org and we will help you get back in. The deletion itself is still yours to press.
